As a general rule,
expatriate assignments are expensive, complex and stressful.
An assignment will generally cost twice as much, and often
three times as much as the cost of a local hire. A large number
of resources need to be mobilised to get the assignment underway,
among them shippers, tax advisors, immigration consultants,
accommodation services, international schooling, home and
host country human resources, payroll in home and host locations
and more. And whilst a domestic move is stressful enough,
a foreign move is doubly so, given that a new culture and
often a different language can be involved.

Our consultants have
worked in the expatriate tax and immigration departments of
the Big 4 accountancy firms, dealing with the technical aspects
of foreign moves. They have also worked in the HR departments
of multi-national investment banks and energy companies, dealing
with the practical side of foreign assignments. And importantly
they have been expatriates themselves. This combination of
technical and practical experience allows a unique insight
into the complexities of international assignments at every
level.
