Liam
is Coppergate's founder and President. He branched
out on his own in 1995 after spending over 15
years with Ernst & Young and Deloitte &
Touche. He was a senior manager in their expatriate
tax departments, responsible for major client
engagements, and heavily involved in the firms'
internal training and marketing campaigns. Exploiting
a niche in the market he has grown Coppergate's
business on the basis of personal referrals and
providing a level of service sometimes lacking
in the Big 4. His area of expertise is in international
tax planning for expatriate individuals, based
on his knowledge of US, UK and international personal
tax.
Nomaan is a senior manager of Coppergate's Expatriate Tax Business Unit.
He is a UK and US Tax specialist. His area of expertise is in international tax planning
for expatriate individuals, based on his knowledge of US, UK and international personal tax.
He is actively involved in the management of Coppergate's corporate relationships with its
clients. He is involved in tax planning for corporate entities based in the UK that have
overseas operations or complex expatriate related issues.
Nomaan has worked for Coppergate since the summer of 2000 and has been part of Coppergate's rapid expansion
in recent years. Prior to joining Coppergate, Nomaan worked in the tax departments of KPMG and
a local firm of Accountants after having Graduating from University of London with a Bsc.
in Management with Economics.
Ashfaque is a part-qualified accountant having
joined Coppergate in June 2000 with 5 years experience in expatriate taxation. He has experience
in supervising the day-to-day administration of a large portfolio of clients who mainly work in
the financial services sector, the preparation of UK and US tax returns and providing advice on
the UK Tax implications for individuals moving to and from the UK. He is also responsible for
coordinating the tax work of two of Coppergate’s biggest corporate clients.
Ashfaque has a broad grounding in accounting, auditing and organisational
management and is now studying for his tax qualification. He has considerable experience
in Inland Revenue personal tax investigation work and has to date achieved a very high success
rate.
Ashfaque speaks six languages and has lived abroad for 18 years so he has first
hand experience of what it is to be an expatriate.
Phil has more than 15 years experience in US and UK
expatriate tax and manages one of Coppergate's
expatriate Tax Business Units. Prior to joining
Coppergate Associates Phil spent 7 years with
KPMG. Initially based in London he then moved
to their Reading office in 1996 to set up the
expatriate group. As Senior Manager of International
Executive Services he led a team of 20 people
providing UK and US expatriate services to international
companies based in the Thames Valley.
From 1992 to 1995 Phil worked
for Ernst & Young on assignment in the US
where he coordinated the global expatriate services
delivered to Cargill through more than 30 offices
around the world.
Simon
is a Director of Coppergate International in the
UK and one of the Company's founding members.
He started his expatriate tax career with Ernst
& Young, before leaving to set up in business
on his own, and ultimately linking up with Liam
Carroll to form Coppergate. Simon's background
lies in the area of US and UK personal tax, although
he concentrates more these days on developing
offshore tax planning ideas for foreign nationals
working in the UK.
Kerrie
is Director of Business Development for the Houston
operation encompassing responsibility for all
services offered. With previous experience as
Managing Director of our successful recruitment
business within the UK, Kerrie is uniquely placed
to offer a strategic focus to the ongoing development
of this successful people-focused organization.
Prior to Kerrie's MD appointment, she worked within a Global
company with responsibility for multiple locations in terms of staff management, marketing,
client development, and bottom line performance. Highlighting the bespoke services offered
by Coppergate's North American office, Kerrie will be focusing on infiltrating businesses who
depend on the successful assignment completion of their foreign nationals for their own ongoing
growth and development.
Sue is Director of Coppergate International's
Destination Services practice based in Houston. Sue joined Coppergate in October 2002 and pioneered
the development of our destination service client offering, building the current portfolio of
clients including Conoco Phillips to be now recognized as the premier supplier in Houston's
highly dynamic international assignee market. Our Destination Services practice provides
targeted, bespoke consulting for companies and assignees designed to alleviate the numerous
complicated and distracting obstacles to establishing personal financial, official, government,
banking, and social ties in a new country.
Prior to joining Coppergate Sue had worked with Goldman Sachs and the Financial Times in London.
Having relocated as an international assignee herself in 1999, Sue provides clients with a unique perspective on
living and working in a foreign country.
Sue holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Honors) in Business and is a accredited member of the
Interchange Institute an association focused cultural orientation.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of
Lindsay Montfort as Expatriate Tax Practice Manager for our Houston office effective June 29th, 2005.
Since Coppergate's office opened in Houston in October 2002, client work has increased rapidly.
As part of Coppergate's commitment to provide top quality expatriate tax advice and bespoke personalized
consulting services, Lindsay's appointment deepens the Houston office talent bench and provides further
specialized resources to our Houston office clients.
Lindsay is a graduate of Tulane University with a BSM in Accounting and Finance.
She previously worked with Goldman Sachs as a financial analyst. She is presently associated with
Stevens & Co. L.L.P. an independent public accounting firm based in Houston, providing US domestic
and international personal and business tax planning.
Andy leads Coppergate's International Assignee and
Compensation consulting practice in Houston. Providing a tailored service focused on providing small
and medium sized international organisations with essential HR IAS and compensation platforms when
entering or expanding in foreign territories, Andy provides clients access to Coppergate's considerable
expertise gathered over nearly a quarter of a century of theoretical and practical experience.
Andy has 15+ years of operational and management experience in the energy and
telecommunications industries. He has worked for a number of key industry players in such roles
as government and regulatory affairs, contract and project management. Most recently, he has managed
an HR consultancy practice where he utilized his diverse skill set to solve clients' HR and
recruiting requirements by presenting business oriented HR and recruiting policies, strategies,
and metrics. Having worked both sides of the Atlantic Ocean and been an international assignee
himself, Andy provides clients with a unique and valuable perspective of the balance between employer
costs and assignee needs
Andy holds a dual degree in Business and German, which he speaks fluently. He is a keen
squash player and golfer, but an even keener father after the recent arrival of his first daughter.
Desmond
is one of Coppergate's longest serving Business
Unit Leaders with 16 years expatriate tax experience
gained within the Big 4 accountancy firms. This
includes senior management positions with Ernst
& Young and Deloitte & Touche. Desmond is
a UK and US specialist, equally happy dealing
with individuals and on corporate engagements.
He has worked for many major multi-nationals transferring
expatriates around the world, advising on the
technical and the practical side of cross-border
transfers.
Desmond opened Coppergate's Northern Ireland office in
Coleraine in September 2003.
